Success: There won't be fracking here.

In a session where the legislature couldn't even approve a settlement claim for a horribly abused foster child who was neglected and ignored by the Department of Children and Families, a small bit of good news:

The fracking threat to this community has been (temporarily) defeated.

Yes, the threat to our drinking water has been pushed off for another year!

With your help, we have been pushing for this defeat both here and in Tallahassee. But yesterday, the bill, which would have threatened our water supplies, surrounding wildlife, and our health, was finally pulled and will not be heard in this legislative session.

But it will be back next year.

Powerful interests want it there, as does the Governor. The difference is that next year, with your continued support, I will be leading the charge to protect our drinking water as your State Senator.

Thank you to everyone who signed the petition against this very bad bill and who supported our successful effort.
